am i addicted to xanax or using it as an excuse?

clearly xanax is my drug of choice i dont like to really drink or smoke or take pills just ive realized over the past year i really clicked with xanax.. i abused it at one point and i couldn’t let it go.. im a pretty young and attractive girl you would never know by looking at me.. but i dont understand why i keep going back to it.. only when i want to party.. i go the whole week without it then when the weekend comes i have to have it to go out and act crazy with friends or im in a bad mood.. i hate this affect it has over me but i dont think its like im addicted… or am i.. i just need advice

doctors give this drug for anxiety–taking this drug can actually cause anxiety when it is leaving your system…this is why after a few days of not taking it you start to feel the “need” for them…and by need i mean what a doctor would consider as reason to responsibly take it.

so to answer your question, it does sound like you are addicted or are well on your way to full blown addiction to this drug–which can be extremely debilitating. most addicts don’t think they are addicted…doesn’t mean they aren’t, its a natural attitude that addicts have about their drug of choice. and the medical “need” for the drug you are describing is a sign of dependence aka addiction.

it sounds like you may be able to snip this in the bud at this point…if you don’t or you can’t, you need to talk to a doctor. my mom was addicted to this drug and it was painful to look into the psych ward watching my mom throw a 2-year-old temper tantrum in front of the nurses station just because they wouldn’t give the drug to her. so take care of this and take care of yourself…there are other ways to deal with anxiety–natural and medically–that are less addictive; these methods should be discussed with your doctor as alternative to the drug you are currently abusing.
