Second hand smoke while pregnant?
I see my dad every weekend, and when I do he’s always smoking. No one at my house smokes except for him. I heard smoking can increase risk of miscarriage, is that true for second hand smoke too? I ask him to smoke outside, or not in the car while I’m there but he doesn’t listen. What should I do?
Oh my gosh, people are so damn uptight now a days that they can’t even look at statistics before telling you that you should stop going over there for chance of misscarriage!!
First off, smoking is definitely bad during pregnancy, something I would never recommend, but you are going over there on the weekend…it is highly unlikely that you are going to lose your baby from minimal contact to second hand smoke.
If I were you, I’d tell him that you don’t want to go over there if he can’t respect the fact that you don’t want to be around it. That is pretty crappy that he can’t even go outside for you, but my dad was the same way with us as kids. My mom had all of her kids under 2nd hand smoke exposure (and I mean like 4 packs a day!) and we are all healthy and fine. She didn’t lose any baby’s and all her kids were of normal birth rate.
Trust me, you don’t need to worry about losing your baby, but you do need to stress to your dad how important it is to YOU that he doesn’t do it. It is really disrespectful to smoke around people who don’t want to be exposed, especially since you’re worried about your baby!

i am currently almost 15 weeks pregnant and yes i smoke, ive been trying so so hard to quit but its impossible, now i know all the risks of smoking while pregnant already so i dont need that information but i would like to hear from women that smoked while pregnant and the effects that it had whether it be bad or no effects at all.
My Dr. told me not to quit. Quitting causes stress and will harm the
baby. So I cut back to 5-7 a day. The result. 3 pregnancies, 3 big
and healthy babies. All because I listened to my Dr. His advice
benefited my children.
