Again and again, you've heard the warnings about smoking and its harmful effects on health. However, nothing seems to deter smoking lighting cigarette after cigarette. Some twenty years ago, a report by U.S. Surgeon General states that "cigarette smoking is the leading single cause of cancer death United States. "And that remains true to this day, if not more.
In 2008, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention noted that are 46 million adults in the United States Tobacco, which is about 20.6% of all adults. About one in five Americans is a smoker. Of this total, 23.1% or 24.8 million men and 18.3% or 21.2 million are women who smoke.
An increase in the number of smokers in younger age groups also was noted in the report. Persons aged 25 to 44 are more likely to smoke cigarettes 23.7%, while former 65 is only 9.3% who smoke.
Another area of concern is the increasing number of high school students who smoke. There is an alarming 20% high school students who were smokers in 2007. In a recent survey among high school students showed that 9% smoked cigarettes.
Half of all smokers will die from the habit, and almost half a million people in the United States die from diseases related to tobacco, snuff each year. Truth is that smoking is the leading cause of death among Americans, killing more than the combined number of motor vehicle accidents, alcohol, suicide, homicide and illegal substances. He is also responsible for at least 30% of all cancer deaths and nine cases of death from lung cancer each TENS can be attributed to the consumption of snuff.
These figures are difficult, it is simply to hide the truth terrible about smoking and tobacco snuff. However, is also the most preventable cause of premature death, if smokers do not pay attention to the warning and stop smoking before it is too late.
