Looking for info on cancer statistics for former smokers who have quit.?
I’m 27 and just quit smoking about 2 months ago. I started smoking when I was 18. The amount I smoked varied but was generally at or slightly less than 1 pack a day. I’m trying to find some statistics or other info on what the chances are that I could develop cancer or other smoking related illnesses later on in life. In other words, I am trying to gauge how much damage I potentially did for the 9 years I smoked. I know that isn’t something that you can give a definite answer to, but like I said I am looking for statistics or other related information.
Well my husband smoked for 40 years and then decided to try to qit .It was a tough job and 3 years later he finally did but the damage was allready done to the lungs .He developed cancer from so many years of smoking so you probably have a much better chance of not having that problem My husband fought it for 8-10 months then died so you are on the right track to quit as quickly as you can.He even developed copd breathing problems that he had for 2 years prior to the cancer showing up and had a year i think he should of been on something as he kept getting bronchitis every few months.So you have probably done some damage for sure but lets hope you can do ok now that you quit early and by the way he smoked a pack per day also .Hope this helped and good luck trying to quit

There are lots of smokers, surely it has an effect on the envirnonment. I’m curious to know the statistics of say smoking against car pollution. It would be another reason for my girlfriend to quit.
