Is there a state law in Texas that requires at least a twenty minute break while at work?
I was recently hired at a fast food job, and they only allow twenty minute breaks, no matter how many hours you work that day. You only get those twenty minutes, and you’re not allowed to leave the store at all. You are being paid for those twenty minutes. I don’t get smoke breaks. And you HAVE to eat their food unless you bring your own lunch. I could’ve sworn there was a state law that you were entitled to a thirty minute break, free to go where ever you want, if you worked nine hours or more.
Strangely, Texas does not seem as particular as other states. Their department of labor says 20 minute breaks are common, but not required. It doesn’t even say a break is required after a certain number of hours. What it does say is that if they allow you a meal break of 30 minutes or more and are off the clock, you must be releaved of all duties. If it is a paid break, sounds like you are at their disposal. In Texas, homeowner insurance claims are supposed to be taken care by the insurance companies on time. Of course, if they suspect arson, rightly or wrongly, they can extend these deadlines. The burden of proof for the amount of the claim is on the homeowner, however, and many times there is a delay caused by unmet request for receipts, an inventory or forms from the homeowner. The Prompt Payment of Claims Statute provided in Texas law
http://tlo2.tlc.state.tx.us/statutes/in.toc.htm gives the insurance company certain deadlines to acknowledge, investigate, and accept or reject a claim. First they must acknowledge receipt of the insurance claim, then they must start an investigation of the claim usually within 15 days.
When you turn in the information they request, like receipts and forms, then the insurance company has 15 days to accept of reject the claim. Once the claims validity and amount are established, the insurance company has 60 days to pay. Once they notify you that they will pay, they have 5 days in order to do so.
If your insurance provider is violating Texas insurance laws by delaying settlement unfairly, or if your insurance company is refusing to pay benefits that were promised under your policy or represented to you by their agent, then you should seek assistance from a qualified public insurance adjuster.
Public insurance Adjusters are experts on property loss estimations, work only for the insured, to document, negotiate and settle the claim at the highest amount called for in the policy. The check for underpriced or left out of the companies offer, and for this reason and other reasons, your settlement is often higher when a public adjuster is used.

Texas child custody?
My girlfriend is of course divorced, she has a son, and when she got her divorce they agreed on her staying in the county they live in and has to have his permission to move with her son, where can i find texas laws of child custody for grounds of removal of her son, so just in case she decided to leave and live with me without his permission and he would end up taking her to court, and would try and take him away from her, but she is not a bad mother, goes to school, has a job, does not drink smoke or do drugs, so if you could please let me know where i could find out what the grounds for removal from the parent
The divorce decree covering the custody & residence location is assumed to be in the best interest of the child. For her to get this changed she’ll need to either get her ex to agree to change it (with appropriate documentation filed in with the court) or she’ll need to go in front of a judge and prove that this will be IN THE CHILD’S best interest (not her best interests, not your best interests, but their SON’s best interest).
If she can’t get one of those 2 things to happen then it won’t happen legally.
