Costs of secondhand smoke?
It’s now been four years since my state, Ohio, prohibited smoking in all public places including all workplaces, bars, clubs, restaurants, etc…….and I assume other areas have banned longer. Where can I find statistics on how much secondhand deaths/illnesses, employee absenteeism, health care costs, insurance premiums and such have gone down, and patronage in clubs, bars and restaurants have gone up as these were cited as reasons for the ban??
(I also wonder how many smokers have obtained jobs with the post office, fed, state and local governments as it seems that their vehicles are the only places where smoking is allowed.)
Everyone knew and still knows that secondhand smoke isn’t a significant health hazard, it’s just a scape goat to unload prejudices.
