I got an internship in Davis, CA just for the summer (I’m from Pennsylvania) and have some questions for anybody who can help 
I start in one week!
1. Is smoking in bars legal?
2. Where are some good restaurants?
3. Is it windy? Sunny? Rainy?
4. Where is the nearest/ nicest beach? I’ve never seen the Pacific Ocean and plan on going every weekend.
5. Where should I visit (cities, parks, etc)?
6. What do you do for fun?
7. Is there anything else I should know?

3. In the summer it is hot, sunny, and very, very dry, with temperatures regularly in the upper ninetys/ lower hundreds
4. The nearest ocean beaches are in san francisco, but those are cold. the nicest, warmest beachs near sacramento are in santa cruz, which is about a 3 hour drive. However, the sacramento area has beaches on the river which are warm and fun like ocean beaches.
5. be sure to visit old sacramento, downtown sacramento at night, and the american river
6. fun in sacramento is basically the same as in philadelphia. in sacramento, go to the river and see the museums.

To you think that some perfumes that women wear…?
I just have a hard time being forced to smell women’s strong, strong perfume. In stores, in public, etc. The other day I was walking down the sidewalk. This women got out of her car across the street and I could smell her perfume as if I were standing right beside her. And here I was, clear across the street. When I got home, I could actually test it. In California, they enforce the air pollution laws in the work force, due to people that have asthma, and allergies etc. Which I think it great. This also includes the men cologne too. They can really load it on. It’s always something. Here they don’t allow smoking in restaurants, but in the mean time you have to eat, smelling someones perfume. What is your view on this.
I remember when the idea of perfume was ‘just a touch’ – a soft scent to ‘tickle his nose and his fancy’ – you would put a small tab behind your ears, at the base of your throat and if you were racy a dab behind each knee! lol those days are gone!
it seems as though now-a-days men and women bathe in their perfumes/colognes/aftershave with no consideration for anyone other than themselves. for some reason they think its sexy? appealing? it isn’t!
like you i have asthma and allergies and perfume is a key trigger for me! try saying something to someone about their strong use of perfumes/aftershaves and you are liable to be told to f… off.
there are several dept. stores i don’t shop in anymore simply because the stench of their perfume counters wafts throughout the entire store. i don’t dare get on public transit – all those scents mixed together is an asthma attack waiting to happen. i have had to get off the bus many times over the years so now i drive and yes i get flack for driving instead of using transit but at least i can breathe!
asthmatics and allergy sufferers are increasing in number every year – one day soon i hope we will be strong enough and have loud enough voices to force some sort of clean air policy in all public places. it was only in the last two or three years that our hospitals declared themselves to be perfume and aftershave free so we have a long wait ahead of us. cheers!
