Inexpensive ways to quit smoking,PEOPLE WITH EXPIERENCE.?
I am trying to get my aunt and her boyfriend to stop smoking.She tried quiting when I was born many years ago and couldnt stick to that.I now have my own child and her boyfriends daughter had a child 17 days before me.She loves my baby dearly and same goes for her boyfriend,I want them to be around to watch our kids grow up.She just recently had back surgery and couldnt smoke and told me to take all her packs,I did,but now she is taking cigs. from her boyfriends packs.How did you stop smoking without the use of pills or the patch? I put together a pamphlet of pictures comparing smoking to not smoking and also pros and cons I found on an ex-smokers blog.She hates the fact that she smokes and stinks and that I dont like bringing my baby over there and she coughs until shes sick all the time,but she cant seem to quit.Serious answers only please!
You are a very sweet person. Quitting is tough. They can only do it if they want to quit. First time I quit, I did hypnotherapy. It worked for three years. Never even craved one during those three years. Then I was in Prague, got pretty drunk (everyone was smoking) and thought I can have just one…NOT. That was 3 years ago. But I have made changes in my behavior to decrease the amount of cigarets I smoke a day. In the morning, instead of coffee and smokes, I have water and a half hour work out with hand weights, or, if the weather is good, I take the dog for a walk in the woods. Instead of smoking after a meal, I do the dishes, take the dog for a walk..anything but sit and have a smoke right away. And yes, we have a lucky dog, she gets lots of walks. Oh, when I do walk her, I leave the cigs at home. It is a matter of changing your smoking habits. We do not smoke in the house, and sometimes here it is sooo cold, you do not even want to go out and smoke. It is not easy, and the desire to REALLY quit has to be there or they will fail and be discouraged, making it harder to try again.

Should Smirnoff and Mikes Hard Lemonade be BANNED since its attracting kids to drink?
Why not? The FDA just banned clove cigarettes since it was thought to be attracting kids to smoke. They arent even advertised on tv like alcohol is. I havent seen an ad or kids smoking cloves before and never even heard of them until they were banned. I know for sure that lots of kids everywhere are drinking Smirnoff and Mikes Hard Lemonade because of the sweet taste it has. Those are definitely attracting kids to drink! Why wont the FDA ban that if we dont want the kids to be drinking or smoking?
If clove cigarettes are banned because they supposedly tempt kids to start smoking (despite the fact that you have to reach a certain age to buy them)……….
Shouldnt all those sweet flavored alcohol drinks that the kids might like because it doesnt taste so nasty and bitter also be banned so they arent tempted to drink either?
I drank heavily through middle and high school. I gave up alcohol permanently 4 months before my 21st birthday. A pina colada or a bottle of scotch, kids will do what they do regardless of what alcohol is available to them. It doesnt matter if it tastes good or not. Trying to keep kids from drinking is a resistence is futile situation.
