Does every single high schooler smoke pot?
It seems to me like every single person at my high school smokes marijuana. Even the 4.8 GPA matheletes smoke, despite the fact that every single responsible adult figure as well as scientific studies say it’s bad. We’ve been told it burns holes in your brain and can have serious long term effects, so why do they all do it?
I am a senior in high school, and not a “geek/loser” and I never have or will smoke weed. It is a waste of time and money. And I see it as demeaning/degrading. Anyone that has respect for there body and mind wouldnt do it. So no, not all of them do.

It’s Time Smoking is Regarded as an Enemy to the Human Race!
Smoking is an omnipresent addiction that is equally lethal in all parts of the world. Unfortunately whenever the facts and figures related to smoking are released, they invariably belong to the developed nations and rarely cater to the third world countries. Even the anti smoking measures are in their full force only in the developed countries or in the affluent societies of the lesser developed ones. This deadly addiction is not taken seriously in a wide geography of the world. The developed countries have realized, though that smoking is effectively engulfing their most important resource i.e. the human resource. Over and above this smoking is also leading to huge scale wastage of the hard earned money of people. Thus the developed countries in the world have started a rigorous campaign against one of the most lethal enemies of the human race and the human environment.
The anti smoking measures have been taken up in all earnestness in the developed countries. Very effective and detailed awareness programs are being conducted with the intention of keeping people far from this addiction and to help the addicts give up. Unfortunately the smokers have agreed to the fact that these costly awareness programs have done very little to inspire them to quit smoking but still the campaigners are not losing heart. They are carrying on with full vigor to bring into light the harms that smoking inflicts to the human body and mind and also to some other dangerous aspects of smoking such as passive smoking. Along with the awareness programs, very stringent ban have come into effect in these countries. The bans have been tightly implemented and the authorities look into the fact that these bans are properly followed. In order to tighten the grip over smoking, several regions of the US and the UK the cigarette rates have been hiked up. The authorities behind this step agree that though the hiking up of prices won’t help the smokers quit smoking; they would definitely keep the impulsive smokers away from this addiction. In the developed countries people also get the assistance of the quit smoking drugs like chantix. Most of the population of the developed countries has access to the internet from where they can easily buy chantix. With the prescription the people can buy chantix online, stay away from the chantix side-effects and try to quit smoking. This is one anti smoking measure that is quite biased. I say biased because chantix can safely be said to be targeted at a particular section of the society. Unfortunately these medicines don’t target the whole of human society. Most of the anti smoking measures fail to reach out to the majority of the smokers and as a result the overall smoking rate in the world doesn’t witness much of a fall.
The major matter of concern is that even the governments of the underdeveloped, developing and poor countries fail to acknowledge the smoking ill effects. They feel there are other serious issues for them to look into apart from smoking. But they fail to see that smoking is no less than a militant; an internal militant that is constantly aiming to harm the citizens. It is the primary duty of any government to safeguard and protect its citizens. Thus they should also seriously tackle the addiction of smoking and do something substantial to fight it. Sadly all the anti smoking measures in the third world countries are only there to ordain the papers. They are almost non existent practically. It is imperative that smoking is regarded as a deadly enemy of the human race by the governments of these countries. Only then can there be some hope of improvement in the smoking scenario of the backward countries and regions.

why does the news always concentrate on the negative side of everything?
The news always seems bad and i think its because they will always look for the negative in every story. For example latest figures show that in the UK we are starting to drink and smoke less (surely a positive) but instead the BBC have decided to concentrate on the fact that men drink more than women and we drink more in England than in Wales or Scotland.
why do they insist on emphasising the negative, is this why 90% of the discussions on this website are negative?
