I’m not sure what this has to do with cancer, but every state has their own laws and what may be legal in one state may not be in another. I would also imagine a lot would depend on what kind of pipe you are referring to.

Hold the lighter up to your bowl while simultaneously inhaling. Your chamber should fill up with thick smoke. Inhale until you feel a sufficient amount of smoke has filled the chamber.
Take a breather. Pull the bong away from your mouth. Uncover the carb. Take a quick breath or two. (Don’t take too long at this step, though, especially if you’re sharing the smoke with some friends.)
Inhale the smoke. Place the bong back onto your mouth, forming the same Breathe all the smoke into your lungs.
Hold your breath. Try to hold the smoke in for as long as possible. If it’s your first time, make sure you suppress your cough. Normally six seconds will be good for most smoking mixtures; however, some people hold in the smoke for 30 seconds or more. Slowly exhale until you see no more smoke coming out of your lungs.

Tips for noobs to tobacco pipes?
I just bought a peterson pipe and I am really enjoying it so far. However, I have heard there are some important things to know as far as cleaning the pipe, “breaking it in” (Carbon Cake build up???) and also filling the pipe and getting an even light and smoke throughout the whole bowl. I was hoping for some tips and tricks to smoking a pipe and all the important info I need to be a pro at it soon. Thanks!!!
