Why is some states trying to ban smoking or raise taxes so high you can’t afford them.?
Is the goverment going to take care of the farmers that grow it or find them jobs? I thought it was a free country? Whats worse second hand smoke or pollution. Can i sue the automobile company or what? smokers should’nt be taxed high or decriminated on by where they live or work!
I have heard that the tobacco farmers are making more money than ever…..by exporting their crops. Don’t worry about them.

Smoking bans are something that every nation is very gung ho about in the recent times, although it’s a different matter whether these bans are actually implemented or not. Pertaining to the fact that smoking is not just playing with the lives of the people or to be precise the human resources but also with environment and wealth, huge scale efforts are being made from different influential quarters to get a grip over this addiction. There is nothing as important as human resource to build a prosperous and healthy economy. Therefore, it is of utmost importance that the human beings are rescued from the powerful hold of the addiction of smoking. The developed nations were the first to notice and attend to this fact. They realized that a bright future won’t be possible with smoke over their heads. The smoke of the cigarette had to be cleared from the environment and the addiction had to be cleared from the lives of the people as soon as possible. National development is impossible without a healthy and able population and smoking is a big impediment towards this cause.
Smoking has been termed as an epidemic in many of the developed countries including the US and the UK. In the US, smoking is also very much common among the teenagers who can be safely referred to as children, and the adolescents. This is nothing but an alarm to the country as their coming generation is falling prey to probably the most widespread addiction in the world. Therefore, the authorities pulled up their sleeves and made and passed a number of acts to the effect of enforcing bans on smoking in various parts of the country, both indoors and outdoors. The positive effects of these attempts have already showed results in the form of a considerable decrease in the rate of second hand smoking, a very lethal side effect of smoking that is sometimes even more dangerous than active smoking. As far as smoking in the UK is concerned, the addiction is so dear to the people there, that they were quite unhappy with the Prime Minister Mr. Tony Blair for imposing such bans. But there is no denying the fact that sooner or later the people will realize that the regulations on smoking served them big time.
Well, coming back to the US, like in the UK imposing bans in this country also haven’t been a dream run. People in these countries are so much into addictions that they can’t take anybody interfering with their ways of life as long as they are not against the law. Inspite of oppositions and dejection from the population the authorities succeeded in banning smoking. But the war is yet to be won in the very important US state of Pennsylvania. In this state the authorities are having a tough time. Going by the trend followed in other states, it is expected that the authorities will have the last laugh and the Pennsylvanians will have to think before they take out the fag in the open.

I’m doing a research paper on second-hand smoke and smoking bans in general and I need to find a credible source that states that smoking bans are bad for the economy and businesses (I know that there are many sources that prove the opposite but I need to look at all sides of the issue) Please help me by posting a link to an article that show this. thanks in advance!!!
I work at a bar and grill, where the state just passed the no smoking law, effective on Oct. 1st…..
My boss had two choices. One, No smoking at all in the building.
Or, no one under 21 allowed in the building……..
He chose the second….He had no choice….
It’s a friggen BAR! People aren’t going there for “health conscience foods and beverages for crying out loud!
The majority of the customers smoke. We are a huge Tobacco growing state, and lots of people smoke here.
So he had to do it or lose a whole bunch of business…
We had families come to our place…We have a bar and a separate dining area….People brought their kids in… We lost a bit of business due to that, but not as much if he banned smoking….We have bands 4 nights a week, and people like to sit, drink and smoke…..It was up to the PARENTS to choose whether to come in or not….Not the State!!!

We people young and old eat more crap in our foods, Polysorbate ??? etc. and breathe more crap from cars and factory smoke, and some bored “my way or no way” idiot, felt a need to FORCE their view on the rest of us!
Look at every product we use…Shampoo, deodorant, air freshener, bug spray, Laundry soap, fabric softener, cosmetics, on and on and on, what the hell is all that crap in that stuff that we can’t even pronounce…..
People had a CHOICE, just like they do with a bad TV show…
Participate or don’t….. We didn’t have the “Morality Police” shoving laws that they got passed, in order to get their As$$es re-elected…..Welcome to the new world! Only Prisoner’s seem to have rights these days!!!
