What other model years front bucket seats will swap directly into my 1997 Mercury Sable Wagon?
I have manual seats, both are buckets. I want to get newer used ones from a junkyard, because mine is squishy now and the passenger one got peed on by a cat. I don’t want to drill holes.
Also, there is a separate console between the seats. When it is in “seat mode,” it is the bridge between the two buckets, making the seat look like a bench seat. When it is in “cupholder mode,” it flips forward, sitting up at an angle and holding one cup or can very well and one way too loosely. It also has an armrest attached, that swings up to be a seat back and down to be an arm rest. In later model years, I see that the flip-forward part of it, the cupholder part, is now designed to flip completely forward and sit flat on the floor. This change allows you to open the ashtray (which you can’t do with the one I have). I don’t smoke, but I DO like having access to the cigarette lighter for accessories, and I’d like to know if I can also swap the old console out for the new style one.
try to get some ,out of the same kind of car, if your scrapyard has a few of your models in their yard, because when cars come out of the factory, they usually have the same bolts and holes drilled for different options like : buckets, bench,60/40 seats, consoles.etc, they didn’t just make the holes or bolts just for your car. either out of a sable wagon or a 4 dr model should fit.

Dad’s 50th birthday present?
We’re having a surprise 50th birthday party for my father on October 30. I am having trouble trying to think of a gift to give him. He likes electronics (he loves my iPhone, but he wouldn’t want one). He also smokes cigars and has an entire smoke room in his house with all of his cigars/accessories…. Every year for his birthday I usually get him a new torch lighter, ashtray or cigar cutter (I don’t want to do that this year) but this is a BIG birthday and I want to get him a gift that he’s really going to love.
