Coronary heart disease, LDL / HDL or smoking?

Is there a good primary source that mention this? What is the risk factor important for coronary disease? is the ratio of LDL / HDL or smoking it? Thanks

As you know, there are many risk factors for disease coronary artery disease including age> 55 in men> 45 for women, high blood pressure, diabetes, smoking, obesity, LDL (bad cholesterol) and HDL (good cholesterol. The relative increase in the risk of these risk factors depends on how large the exposure is. For example, the higher the LDL, the greater the risk. The more you smoke, the greater the risk. LDL / HDL and smoking contribute to the development of heart disease and depends on how bad LDL and HDL are and the number of smokers. So it is very difficult to answer your question, what is more important, because both are. There was a large study known as the Framingham study that followed people for some time to determine the risk factors for heart disease and the amount of the contribution that each has for the development of coronary disease artery. There are calculators available online that we can estimate the risk of a heart attack or death from a heart attack within the next ten years. You play with the numbers if you want to see how the modification of risk factors influence the results. I'll add the link below. Good luck. Http: / / hp2010.nhlbihin.net/atpiii/calculator.asp?
